This medium to large size species
is from Honshu Island in
Japan and was first named and described
by Fumio Maekawa. It is related to
Hosta kiyosumiensis
.
It grows to about 22 inches in height and 4 feet in width with
slightly rippled, smooth textured foliage. Pale lavender flowers
bloom in August.
According to

(2009), "...one of the lesser known
Hosta species."
Seedlings include H. 'Passionate
Purple'.
