Hosta pachyscapa

This medium to large size species is from Honshu Island in Japan and was first named and described by Fumio Maekawa. It is related to Hosta kiyosumiensis . It grows to about 22 inches in height and 4 feet in width with slightly rippled, smooth textured foliage. Pale lavender flowers bloom in August.

According to The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "...one of the lesser known Hosta species."

Seedlings include H. 'Passionate Purple'.
