Hosta 'Red Corvette'

This medium size (13 inches high by 18 inches wide) cultivar is a seedling of H. 'Almost' × H. 'Katsuragawa Beni' was originated by Jeff Moore of Wisconsin and registered by Jim Schwarz of Jim's Hostas of Iowa (now owned by Uniquely Hostas of Wisconsin) in 2015.

The medium green foliage is slightly rippled and slightly shiny on top. Pale purple, tubular flowers bloom from mid-August into September. It sets seeds but their viability was not known at the time of registration. According to the registration materials, 'Red Corvette' is a hosta "...with maroon-speckled stems, leaves have a pronounced tips."

Mikiko Lockwood in an article on The Hosta Library titled, A Little About Japanese Hosta Terms defines the term beni as red or rouge and the the term -gawa or -kawa as river.
