Hosta 'Red Veins'

This is one of those cases where there are two hostas with the same name. Neither is registered with The American Hosta Society. The first one to be registered would become the "official" hosta of that name and the other would have to be renamed.

Originated by Glen Pether of England, this non-registered cultivar is a seedling of H. longipes f. hypoglauca × H. longipes 'Ogon Koba'.

Mikiko Lockwood in an article on The Hosta Library titled, A Little About Japanese Hosta Terms defines the term ogon or oogon as gold or yellow.

Hosta Helper will call this plant 'Red Veins' (Pether)

MyHostas Database lists another cultivar of this name which has been credited to Dr. Ben J.M. Zonneveld of the Netherlands.

Hosta Helper will call this plant 'Red Veins' (Zonneveld)
