Hosta 'Rising Tide'

The plant shown was labeled as 'Rising Tide' but is is actually 'Rising Surf'. We will try to get a picture of the true cultivar.

'Rising Tide' was registered by Walters Gardens, Inc. of Michigan, in 1984 as a sport of a seedling of H. 'Helen Doriot'. It forms a large size mound similar to H. 'Sieboldiana' with blue-green foliage with a chartreuse to white marginal variegation and thick substance.

According to The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "...some plants sold under this name have been white-edged, 'Fortunei' type (10-12 vein pairs). That form has been renamed 'Rising Surf'...The true 'Rising Tide' has the look of H. 'Sieboldiana'-type (14-16 vein pairs), similar to 'Northern Halo' and other white-edged Sieboldianas'."
