Hosta 'Rosedale Golden Hercules'

This cultivar which is a hybrid of two unnamed seedlings was registered in 1999 by Jerry Hadrava of Iowa. The leaves are bright gold on this large size (20 inches high by 40 inches wide) hosta. It bears white flowers in July.

According to Wikipedia, "The Hercules beetle (Dynastes hercules, Dynastinae) is a species of rhinoceros beetle native to the rainforests of Central America, South America, and the Lesser Antilles, and is the longest extant species of beetle in the world, and is also one of the largest flying insects in the world." Of course there is also a character named Golden Hercules in the Kingdom of Hearts.
