This cultivar was registered in 1999 by Jerry Hadrava of Iowa as a self-pollinated seedling of a plant called "Hadrava Seedling RD-BS-1". The medium size plant is 17 inches high by 54 inches wide with blue-green foliage that turns to dark green as the season progresses.

Named for fellow Iowa hosta hybridizer, John Stratton.
