Hosta 'Scooter'

Registered  by Dr. Ralph (Herb) and Dorothy Benedict of Michigan in 1990, this cultivar is a seedling of H. 'Yellow Splash' with very wide, creamy white margins. It forms a small size (8 inches high by 16 inches high) mound which has bright purple flowers from late July into August.

According to The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "If I were to make a list of the top ten Herb Benedict introductions, this would be on it...offers colorful foliage, a good growth rate, and nice flowers."

The New Encyclopedia of Hostas by Diana Grenfell (2009) states: "Early to emerge. Makes an excellent ground cover."

Similar cultivars include H. 'Coquette', H. 'Ground Master', H. 'Leola Fraim', H. 'Neat Splash Rim', H. 'Queen Josephine' and H. 'Resonance'.
