Hosta 'Soft Focus'

This cultivar was registered in 2009 by Stuart Asch of Michigan and is of unidentified parentage. It is a large size (20 inches high by 36 inches wide) hosta with golden yellow foliage. The leaves are broadly ovate, moderately corrugated, deeply wavy, slightly cupped and slightly shiny on top with lime colored petioles. Near white flowers with lavender stripes bloom from June into July on 33 inch tall, golden yellow scapes. The seed pods are green with red tints.

According to the registration materials: "...beautiful golden yellow with nicely rippled edge. Color lasts all season. Near white flowers provide contrast..."

The originator made the following comment on the Fraternal Order of Seedy Fellows website: "This is one outstanding yellow/gold hosta. The bright shimmering gold folded leaves in spring soon give way to a much wider and beautifully rippled leaf by early summer. A definite eye catcher. Near white flowers in early July."
