Hosta 'Southern Lights'

Madelon Gilligan of New Zealand registered this upright growing sport of H. 'Richmond Blue' in 2015 and re-registered with new data in 2018. It is a medium size hosta about 13 inches high with a spread of around 29 inches. The foliage is blue-green with a yellow, blue and green streaked medial (center) variegation. Its leaves are nearly round, moderately flat and has a glaucous bloom on top. Near white flowers with lavender stripes bloom on scapes 15 to 17 inches tall from late January into February (July into August). It sets seeds but their viability was not known at the time of registration.

The registration materials state: "...unusual blue streaking into the leaf center..."
