Hosta 'Stepping Out'

This cultivar resulted from a cross of H. 'Breeder's Choice' × H. 'Blue Shadows'. It is a non-registered hosta from Dr. Kevin Vaughn of Massachusetts . The plant grows into a medium size hosta about 16 inches high and 36 inches wide. Its leaves are broadly ovate, moderately corrugated and have good substance. They may also be cupped either up or down. Near white flowers bloom starting in late June.

According to The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "...came out of the same sport group as 'Mardi Gras Parade'."

The New Encyclopedia of Hostas by Diana Grenfell (2009) states: "Slow to increase...The leaf color changes dramatically by midsummer to shiny dark green with an ivory margin."
