Hosta 'Sub Four'

Registered by Jeroen Linneman of the Netherlands in 2009, this fast growing cultivar is a seedling of H. 'Kifukurin Ubatake'. It is a miniature size (5 inches high by 7 inches wide) hosta with dark green leaves. The foliage is moderately flat, ovate and very shiny on top. Tubular shaped flowers on scapes about 8 inches tall bloom from mid-July into August.

The registration information states, "...green leaved, H. pulchella sort of hosta, very good grower..."

Mikiko Lockwood in an article on The Hosta Library titled, A Little About Japanese Hosta Terms defines the term kifukurin or ki fukurin as yellow edge(d) or yellow margin(ed).
