Hosta 'Sun Chariot'

Registered by Rod Lysne of Northern Grown Perennials in Wisconsin in 2020, this large size (26 inches high by 50 inches wide) cultivar is a seedling of H. 'Sunny Smiles' × H. 'Streets of Gold'. It is a deeply golden-yellow hosta with broadly ovate leaves that are heavily corrugated, flat, slightly shiny on top and have prominent veins. Pale lavender flowers bloom in July on scapes 30 to 34 inches tall followed by viable seeds.

The registration materials state: "...Leaves exhibit heavy substance, deep veins and are very rugose at maturity.  Strong resistance to sun damage...Emerges golden chartreuse quickly turning bright gold before settling into a creamy gold for the remainder of the season."
