Hosta 'Surf's Up'

This is one of those cases where there are two hostas with the same name. One is registered and, therefore, the "official" version of H. 'Surf's Up' while the other is a non-registered plant and needs to be renamed to avoid further confusion.

This medium size (18 inches high by 36 inches wide) cultivar which is a tissue culture sport of H. 'Lakeside Beach Captain' was registered by Mark Zilis of Illinois in 2009. Its foliage is golden yellow and is lightly corrugated with a glaucous bloom on top. Pale lavender, tubular flowers bloom from July into August.

MyHostas Database also sites a cultivar of this name from Kent Terpening of New York. It is a fast growing, semi-vase shaped, medium to large size hosta with blue-green foliage. The leaves have wavy margins and white backs.
