Hosta 'Suzuki Thumbnail'

Another of the huge number of seedlings of H. venusta, this cultivar was registered in 1987 by Peter Ruh of Ohio on behalf of the originator, Kichigoro Suzuki of Japan. It forms a miniature size (3 inches high by 6 inches wide) hosta with medium green, heart shape foliage. Purple, bell shape flowers bloom in July followed by fertile seeds.

According to The Genus HOSTA by W. George Schmid (1991), "Plant bought by Craig in Japan at a market stall and sent to Davidson in 1964...In 1969 bought by Davidson directly from Suzuki. Cultivated under Davidson Nos. 86 and 87."
