Hosta 'Sweet Winifred'

This cultivar was registered by Dr. Ralph (Herb) Benedict of Michigan in 1994 as an open-pollinated seedling of H. plantaginea. It forms a large size (23 inches high) mound with fragrant, pure white flowers borne in August on nearly 4 foot tall scapes.

According to The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), this cultivar "...was named to honor Winifred Englerth, wife of Larry Englerth. Not long after its The American Hosta Society registration, it was found to be the same as 'Royal Standard'."
