Hosta 'The Leading Edge'

Registered by Dr. Ed Elslager of Michigan in 2002, this cultivar is a seedling of an H. 'Dorothy Benedict' seedling. It is a giant size (33 inches high by 46 inches wide) hosta with an upright growth habit. The leaves are green with a greenish yellow marginal variegation and have thick substance. Its foliage is heavily rippled, broadly ovate, moderately corrugated and slightly shiny on top. Very pale lavender flowers bloom from mid-June into July on scapes about 40 inches tall.

The registration information states, "...shiny green leaves with wide rippled yellow margins; good substance..."
