Hosta 'Theo's Blue'

This non-registered cultivar is a hybrid of H. pycnophylla is from Theo Leydens and Dr. Ben J.M. Zonneveld of the Netherlands. The medium size (15 to 18 inches  high by 25 inches wide) plant has rich blue-green leaves that are ovate shaped and very waxy with purple petioles. It bears lavender colored flowers.

The New Encyclopedia of Hostas by Diana Grenfell (2009) states: "Best grown at eye level to appreciate the plant's many qualities, but away from tree canopies to avoid falling detritus from marking the leaves...Ideal for situations where leaves with only a hint of blue are wanted...Leaf underside is covered with a thick, white coating. Most of the leaf blade undulations occur along the base and the lower half of the leaf."
