This non-registered cultivar is a
hybrid of H. pycnophylla
and Dr. Ben J.M. Zonneveld of the
Netherlands. The medium size
(15 to 18 inches high by 25 inches wide) plant has rich
blue-green leaves that are ovate shaped and very waxy with
purple petioles. It bears lavender colored flowers.
The New Encyclopedia of Hostas by
Grenfell (2009) states: "Best grown at eye level to appreciate the plant's
many qualities, but away from tree canopies to avoid falling detritus from
marking the leaves...Ideal for situations where leaves with only a hint of blue
are wanted...Leaf underside is covered with a thick, white coating. Most of the
leaf blade undulations occur along the base and the lower half of the leaf."
