Hosta 'Tom Terrific'

Registered in 2019 by Bob Solberg of Green Hill Farm in North Carolina this upright growing cultivar is a hybrid of "Solberg Seedling 48/49" × H. 'Key West'. It is a large size (20 inches high by 36 inches wide) hosta with greenish yellow foliage. The leaves are slightly shiny on top, nearly round, slightly cupped and slightly corrugated overall with rich purple on 2/3 of the petiole. Pale lavender flowers bloom from mid-July into August on scapes about 34 inches tall followed by viable seed.

The registration materials state: "...Very round yellow leaves are somewhat cupped and puckered with rich purple petioles with purple well towards the leaf."

This is named for former The American Hosta Society President, Tom Micheletti of the Hosta Patch in Illinois. Also, Tom Terrific was an early animated series on American television, presented as part of the Captain Kangaroo children's television show.
