Hosta 'Tosayama'

Collected in Japan by Hajime Sugita, this non-registered cultivar is of unidentified parentage. It forms a small size hosta which starts the season creamy yellow in color but changes to light green later.

According to The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "...did not appear to be the same as 'Fukurin Tosayama', which has been registered with The American Hosta Society..."

Mikiko Lockwood in an article on The Hosta Library titled, A Little About Japanese Hosta Terms defines the term yama as mountain and the term fukurin as margined or edged.
