This cultivar was listed on the MyHostas Database website. Originated by Jan van den Top of the Netherlands, this non-registered cultivar is a sport of H. 'Dawn's Early Light'. It has heavily ruffled and puckered yellow to chartreuse colored leaves with a white marginal variegation. 'Tropical Sunrise' is a large size (19 inches high by 60 inches wide) hosta.  It has a deeply lobed base and a distinctive tip that turns downward. Lavender flowers bloom in July.
