Hosta 'Valley’s Makoto'

Registered by Jeroen Linneman of the Netherlands in 2022, this upright growing cultivar is a seedling of H. 'Maya Kingsnake' × H. 'Tequila Sunrise'. It is a medium size hosta about 16 inches high by 20 inches wide with golden-yellow foliage which turns green later in the season. The ovate shaped leaves are slightly wavy, very shiny on top and have dark red petioles. Deep purple flowers with soft white margins bloom from late July into August on soft purple scapes 16 to 24 inches tall followed by viable seeds.

The registration materials state: "Long narrow golden yellow leaves with ruffled margins atop dark red petioles...Viridescent. Golden yellow leaves turn green through the season."

According to Wikipedia, Makoto is a unisex Japanese name although it is more commonly used for males.
