Hosta 'Waukon Thin Ice'

This non-registered cultivar is a sport of H. 'Topaz' which was originated by Bob Axmear of Waukon, Iowa. The blue-green foliage has chartreuse to gold colored marginal variegation. It is a medium size (16 inches high by 33 inches wide) hosta with leaves that are broadly ovate, folded and have a distinct tip. Pale purple flowers that bloom from late July into August on scapes up to 18 inches tall.

The New Encyclopedia of Hostas by Diana Grenfell (2009) states: "Moderate to rapid growth rate. A superb new introduction...The leaf margin becomes yellow making a greater contrast between it and the leaf center."
