Hosta "Abiqua" Series

This group of hosta cultivars was developed by Charles Purtyman and Jay Hyslop at  Walden West Nursery in Scotts Mills, Oregon. They registered 26 cultivars between 1987 and 1999.

Here are a few examples that we have been able to photograph:

  1. 'Abiqua Ambrosia'
  2. 'Abiqua Aries'
  3. 'Abiqua Crinkles'
  4. 'Abiqua Blue Hearts'
  5. 'Abiqua Delight'
  6. 'Abiqua Drinking Gourd'
  1. 'Abiqua Elephant Ears'
  2. 'Abiqua Gold Shield'
  3. 'Abiqua Ground Cover'
  4. 'Abiqua Miniature'
  5. 'Abiqua Parasol'
  6. 'Abiqua Trumpet'

I don't know for sure if it is the origin of this name but there is an Abiqua soil series that consists of well-drained soils deposited by rivers, streams and other flowing waters. Parts of Oregon have this type of soil.
