Hosta 'Miss Selene'

This cultivar was listed on the MyHostas Database website. Originated in 2005 by Arthur Wrede of Maryland, this non-registered cultivar is a seedling of H. 'Miss Angie' × H. 'Katsuragawa Beni'. It is a small size hosta with wedge-shape green leaves and red petioles. The red extends up into the lower part of the leaf blade. Pale purple flowers bloom from August into September.

Mikiko Lockwood in an article on The Hosta Library titled, A Little About Japanese Hosta Terms defines the term beni as red or rouge and the the term -gawa or -kawa as river.
