Hosta 'Refiners Fire'

Registered in 2019 by Rod Lysne of Northern Grown Perennials in Wisconsin this large size (28 inches high by 40 inches wide) cultivar is a seedling of H. 'Burnished Brass' × H. 'Cynthia'. It is a green hosta with "brassy" gold to chartreuse medial (center) variegation. The leaves are slightly shiny on top, broadly ovate and moderately corrugated overall. Pale lavender flowers with lighter lavender stripes bloom in July on scapes about 32 inches tall followed by viable seeds.

The registration materials state: "...Leaf centers express various tones of brassy gold to chartreuse. Green borders jet into the leaf centers with abandon...brassy gold tones increase as season progresses."
