Paul
Aden (1925-2010) was one of the pioneers in the
hosta world. He is credited with originating or
introducing hundreds of new hostas. Over time, some
controversy arose regarding the actual originators for
some of the plants he registered.
The American Hosta Society established a committee
which addressed this issue and re-assigned credit for
several hostas to other people. Aden was noted for not
revealing the background of the plants he introduced.
Instead, many of his plants have only numbered hostas
listed as parent plants. Some of them are included
