Hosta 'Aoki'

This 'Fortunei' type cultivar from Japan has been around for a very long time. It was registered by The American Hosta Society in 1986 as H. fortunei 'Aoki' but the name has been changed after the monograph, The Genus Hosta by W. George Schmid (1991), determined that there really was no species called H. fortunei.

'Aoki' forms a large size clump about 21 inches high with a spread of about 52 inches in width. The dark green to bluish green leaves have average substance and are not wavy or corrugated. Funnel shaped, pale lavender flowers are borne in late July.

According to The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "...virtually indistinguishable from 'Fortunei Hyacinthina'."
