This medium size hosta was
introduced by
Dr. Ralph (Herb) Benedict of Michigan. It is a seedling of H. 'Hadspen Hawk' which forms a medium size plant with cupped, blue-green
foliage.
According to
The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "Two hostas currently bear this name. The plant I've
described comes from Herb Benedict and makes a very dense mound
of foliage...I observed another 'Apple Jack' in
Ran Lydell's
collection...That resembled 'Dust Devil' in that it had a shiny,
dark green center and a light margin that turned green in late
summer."
