The American Hosta Society on behalf of the originator, Pauline Banyai of Michigan registered this H. 'Blue Boy' seedling in 1987. It has heart shaped, blue green leaves and forms a  medium size (17 inches high), dense mound. The pale purple flowers are borne in July.

According to The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), this cultivar is "... very similar to 'Blue Cadet' in foliage & flower."
