This is one of those cases where there are two hostas with the same name. One is registered and, therefore, the "official" version of H. 'Blue Bayou' while the other is a non-registered plant and needs to be renamed to avoid further confusion.

This "sixth generation seedling from 'Frances Williams'" was registered by Dr. Kevin Vaughn of Massachusetts in 1987. It forms a large, semi-upright (vase shaped) mound with leaves that have thick substance. The height is around 30 inches and a spread of 56 inches. Its very pale lavender flowers bloom from late June into July.

According to the MyHostas Database, there is a second, unregistered cultivar of this name. It was originated by Ron Livingston of Michigan and is a hybrid of H. 'Elvis Lives' x H. 'Blue Diamond'.
