The valley of the Bièvre in Paris has been almost entirely filled in, but the former level of the
banks of the Bièvre can be seen here. The streets, Rue de Croulebarbe, along one
side of the square, and Rue Berbier-du-Mets, leading out of the square, were
created when the river was covered over.
