Alnwyck Castle - England - Gardens, Parks, Squares and Open Spaces

The Alnwick Garden, just a few minutes walk from Alnwick Castle, is one of the world's most exciting contemporary gardens. Just ten years ago (1999), the site was derelict and forgotten. Then the Duchess of Northumberland imagined creating a beautiful public garden for families to enjoy, and from her bold vision, The Alnwick Garden project began. The Garden belongs to an independent charity, The Alnwick Garden Trust.

It is hard to believe that this magnificent garden is only ten years old (in 2009)! If you are on your way from London to Edinburgh, you must make a stop at this garden to see the wonderful water features, rose garden and herbaceous beds and borders.
