Pioneer lumberman and shipbuilder, Louis J. Simpson established shore acres as his private estate on the shoreline of the Pacific Ocean not far from Coos Bay, Oregon. The grounds grew to contain 5 acres of beautiful gardens. In 1942, the property was purchased by the State of Oregon as a public park.

The gardens and grounds have been lovingly restored and updated by a non-profit group, The Friends of Shore Acres, Inc. Interesting and unique flowers, evergreen shrubs and trees, including the largest Monterey pine in Oregon. Bloom times are based on normal/average conditions at Shore Acres and may vary.

We stumbled onto this very nice garden while exploring the Coos Bay area of Oregon. Located on the shores of the Pacific Ocean, it is both beautiful and serene. The well kept gardens are complemented by newly constructed buildings on the site.
