Ran Lydell of Cooks Nursery and Eagle Bay Gardens in New York registered this cultivar in 2000. It was re-registered in 2010 with the following information:

'Arch Duke' is a cross between H. hypoleuca x H. 'Cartwheels' that grows into a large size hosta about 26 inches in height and spreads to about 50 inches in width. The leaves are slightly rippled, broadly elliptic with an ovate base with a thick bloom on the underside. The blooms and subtended bracts are lavender in color and open from late July into August. They are borne on scapes 44 inches tall followed by seeds whose viability was not known at the time of registration.
