Hosta 'Black Hills'

This hybrid of H. 'Green Gold' × an unnamed seedling was registered by Robert Savory of Savory's Gardens in Minnesota in 1983. The plant grows into a large size hosta about  22 inches in height with a spread of 48 inches. Its very dark green foliage is intensely puckered, heavily corrugated and slightly cupped with good substance. Pale lavender flowers bloom from late June into July and then set seeds.

According to The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "...rates highly for its shiny, dark green foliage. It shows strong evidence of being a Fortunei x Sieboldiana hybrid."

The New Encyclopedia of Hostas by Diana Grenfell (2009) states: "Intense puckering or even distortion of the leaves appears only with maturity."
