This is one of those cases where there are two hostas with the same name. One is registered and, therefore, the "official" version of H. 'Blue Pearl' while the other is a non-registered plant and needs to be renamed to avoid further confusion.

This H. 'Elegans'-type plant was originated by Hillier Nursery in England and registered by Peter Ruh of Ohio in 1994. It forms a large size mound of blue-green foliage which is heavily corrugated. Near white foliage blooms from mid-June into July.

According to The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "...was formerly sold as H. sieboldiana glauca in England ."

Schmid indicates that this cultivar originated from "Holland" (We don't know if he meant The Netherlands or a person by that name. He did not use first names in the listings.)It was named by Gus Krossa and introduced by Peter Ruh. It is a medium size hosta about 16 inches high by 24 inches wide with blue-green foliage that has 12 leaf veins. The foliage is cupped and corrugated (rugose) and nearly round. White, funnel-shape flowers bloom in July followed by viable seeds. It is an H. 'Tokudama' type hosta.
