Hosta 'Dustin'

A cultivar of unidentified parentage, this plant was originated by David Stone of Connecticut and registered by Peter Ruh of Ohio in 1988. The medium size hosta grows to about 17 inches high and spreads to a width of 40 inches. Its leaves are ovate, slightly corrugated and the underside is covered with a thin bloom. From mid-July into August, medium lavender flowers bloom.

This cultivar was named for Peter Ruh's grandson.

In The Hosta Journal (1992 Vol. 23 No. 1) there is an article by Peter Ruh about the so-called David Stone Medium or Miniature hostas which went by a numbering system that started with DSM. This cultivar was called DSM #2 and was described as "Medium-small, green lanced-shape leaves with thin, white edge. Flowers lavender-purple."
