This seedling of H. sieboldii 'Subcrocea'emerges bright yellow in the spring and then turns to a light green as the season progresses.   The medium size (11 inches high by 20 inches wide) mound bears purple flowers in July. With its thin texture, this one is, unfortunately, attractive to slugs. It was registered by Russ O'Harra of Iowa in 1991.

According to The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "Its compact habit, rapid growth rate, bright foliage color, and attractive flowers make 'Feather Boa' an outstanding choice for ground cover or edging purposes."

The New Encyclopedia of Hostas by Diana Grenfell (2009) states: "Site in good light all day or morning sun to maintain the leaf color. Increases rapidly."

The Book of Little Hostas by Kathy and Michael Shadrack (2010) says: "Too much sun quickly turns this variety green, but it is an excellent plant for borders and as a groundcover. Bears attractive red seed pods."
