Hosta 'Fragrant Gold'

This hybrid of H. 'Sum and Substance' × an unnamed seedling was registered by Paul Aden of New York in 1982. It grows into a large size hosta about 24 inches in height with a spread of around 53 inches. The foliage is chartreuse to gold in color with a slightly wavy margin and slight corrugation. Its pale lavender, fragrant flowers bloom from late July into August.

The New Encyclopedia of Hostas by Diana Grenfell (2009) states: "Site in morning sun followed by dappled shade or the leaves will not turn golden yellow...Floral fragrance is only apparent in hot, humid climates."

"The plants offered in commerce have leaves of uniform light green which becomes yellow with the advancing season and grows larger than the sizes (in the registration material)."
