Hosta 'Gateway Arch'

Originated by the St. Louis Hosta Society and registered on their behalf by Registrar, Gayle Hatley Alley for The American Hosta Society in 2019, this was the plant distributed at the 2016 National Convention of The American Hosta Society in St. Louis, Missouri. A tissue culture sport of H. 'Banana Split', it is a large size hosta about 22 inches high by 45 inches wide with a semi-upright growth habit and fast growth rate.

The leaves are shiny on top, ovate and relatively flat overall. Medium lavender flowers bloom from August into September on scapes 25 to 37 inches tall followed by viable seeds in red speckled green pods.

The registration materials state: "...Quickly forms a dense mound of upright green leaves with very thick substance. Red speckled seed pods turn cherry red upon maturity. One of two 2016 AHS Convention Plants."
