This cultivar is a sport of H. 'Starker Yellow Leaf' (previously known as H. 'Aureafolia') that was found by Gladys Holly of Wisconsin and later obtained by Eunice V. Fisher of Wisconsin. Peter Ruh of Ohio registered this plant on behalf of the originator, Eunice V. Fisher in 1998. It has leaves that are speckled and splotched when they first emerge similar to H. 'Cynthia'. Near white flower appear in July.
