Hosta 'Jambleliah'
aka (Incorrectly) H. 'Jambeliah'

This heavily mottled, cream margined hosta was registered by Paul Aden of New York in 1978. It is a hybrid of H. 'Flamboyant' × H. 'High Fat Cream'. This medium size (16 inches high) mound has slightly corrugated foliage and bears pale lavender flowers on short scapes in July.

According to The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "...at one time, 'Jambeliah' had heavily variegated foliage. Most specimens now, however, are green-centered with a creamy yellow margin that often streaks into the leaf center."

"There are several spellings for the Paul Aden registration of H. ‘Jambleliah’. I queried former registrar David Stevenson who responded that this question comes up every few years. At one point, he queried Paul Aden, who indicated that the non-standard spelling ‘Jambleliah’ was intended. It is registered with that spelling in the 1978 list of registrations. The "corrected" spelling in the Silver Book as H. ‘Jambalaya’ is not acceptable, and should not be used. Dave used the original established and registered spelling ‘Jambleliah’ in indexes and other publications. I will continue the same policy."
