Hosta 'Lakeside Breaking News'

This cultivar, registered in 2000 by Mary Chastain of Lakeside Acres Nursery in Tennessee, is the result of a cross between a plant called "Chastain Seedling LBSR" x H. hypoleuca. It grows into a medium size hosta about a foot in height with a 2 foot wide clump. Pale lavender flowers bloom in July.

According to The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "Mary Chastain is proud of this cultivar and rightly so. She told me that its foliage "has everything," from attractive variegation to a white back, purple petioles, and piecrust margin."
