Hosta 'Limey Lisa'

Wm Zumbar of Ohio originated this cultivar which was a seedling selection of unidentified parentage. Kevin Walek (Hosta Registrar) registered it on Bill's behalf in 2009. The foliage emerges in the spring chartreuse in color but changes to medium green as the season progresses. It grows to a small size about 6 inches tall with a spread of about 21 inches. The leaves are heart shaped, ovate and dull on top with average substance. In July, bell-shaped medium purple flowers bloom on this plant.

According to The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "The bright purple flowers, which are neatly proportioned on scapes well above the foliage, however, are its greatest asset."

The Book of Little Hostas by Kathy and Michael Shadrack (2010) says: "Ideal for containers, troughs, and the rockery, provided space is sufficient to accommodate its vigorous growth."

The New Encyclopedia of Hostas by Diana Grenfell (2009) states: "Origin: Open-pollinated hybrid derived from H. 'Ogon Koba'...Fast growing...Spoon-cupped tiny leaves that remain lime green."

Mikiko Lockwood in an article on The Hosta Library titled, A Little About Japanese Hosta Terms defines the term koba as small leaf, 'Koba Gibōshi' or H. sieboldii and the term ogon or oogon as gold or yellow.
