Hosta 'Lucy Vitols'

This sport of H. 'Christmas Gold' was registered by Mildred Seaver of Massachusetts in 1989. It is a medium size hosta about 18 inch high by 40 inches wide with slightly cupped, moderately corrugated foliage with thick substance. The medium lavender flowers bloom in late June.

According to The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "...combines nicely with 'Christmas Gold' and 'Christmas Tree' in the garden."

The New Encyclopedia of Hostas by Diana Grenfell (2009) states in its Hosta Hybrids for Connoisseurs chapter: "Very slow to establish and increase...The crumpled and puckered mature leaves almost reach a state of distortion, a feature much prized by flower arrangers."

These 2010 photos were taken at the Ralph (Herb) and Dorothy Benedict Hosta Hillside in Michigan, tours and vendors at The American Hosta Society National Convention in Minnesota, Wade and Gatton Nursery and Wade Botanical Gardens in Ohio, Toledo Botanical Garden and the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum.
