H. longissima
'Manzō' or 'Manzou'

A sport of H. longissima, this non-registered cultivar comes from its native Japan. The small size (6 inches high by 15 inches wide) mound of heavily twisted and curved foliage grows with good vigor for a highly variegated plant. Flowers are medium purple in color with purple anthers and are borne from mid-September to October.

According to The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "It makes an interesting mound of contorted foliage, ideal for growing in troughs or small containers."

The New Encyclopedia of Hostas by Diana Grenfell (2009) states: "Is likely to exceed the given measurements."
