Hosta
'Mean Mama'

One of the many sports of H. 'Dorothy Benedict', this cultivar was registered by Dr. Ralph (Herb) and Dorothy Benedict of Michigan in 1995. It has dark green foliage with a wide gold colored medial (center) variegation.

The plant grows to about 16 inches in height with a width of 30 inches. Its leaves are cupped, moderately corrugated, a little unruly and have thick substance. Near white flowers bloom from mid-June into July.

According to The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "...formerly bore the name 'Best of 84' in the Benedict collection."
