Hosta 'Ocean Isle Tornado'

This non-registered cultivar is a sport of H. 'Whirlwind' from Dave Chopko of New Jersey. This medium size (18 inches high by 40 inches wide) plant has greenish-white medial variegations and a somewhat upright growth habit. The leaves are moderately corrugated, wavy and come to a tip. Lavender flowers bloom from late July into August.

An article by Warren I. Pollock in The Hosta Journal  (2014 Vol. 45 No. 1) states that, “Roberta and Dave Chopko have a residence in Ocean Isle, North Carolina…"Ocean Isle” is Dave’s identifying prefix…His popular H. ‘Ocean Isle’ was registered in 2006…Other Chopko introductions are ‘Ocean Isle Gold Dust’ (NR) and ‘Ocean Isle Twist’…"
