Hosta 'Ops'

'Ops' was registered by Alex Malloy of New York in 2001 as a seedling of H. 'Flamboyant'. It forms a small size (6 inches high by 12 inches wide) mound that bears pale purple flowers in July.

According to The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "The parentage of this plant has me confused. Alex told me (on July 3, 2002) that the green form of 'Ops' is 'Green Harvest'. The latter is a sport of 'Monopoly' (streaked) which is a sport of the white-margined 'Pilgrim', which is a seedling of 'Flamboyant'...Oops!! (or did I say 'Ops'??)"

The Book of Little Hostas (2010) says: "Distinctive foliage and very attractive. Does best in early morning sun and dappled shade. Ideal for the woodland garden and raised bed."

The New Encyclopedia of Hostas by Diana Grenfell (2009) states: "A vigorous, moderately fast-increasing little hosta with a better constitution than many earlier introductions. Best in a raised bed with other small hostas, ferns, and heucheras, or as a container specimen."
