Originated by Joanna Kovalcsik of Michigan and registered by her in 2020, this upright growing cultivar is a hybrid of an unnamed H. 'Sieboldiana'-type hosta × H. 'Mr Black'. It is a medium size plant about 14 inches high by 28 inches wide with dark green foliage. The leaves are nearly round, moderately cupped and corrugated with deeply impressed veins. Newer foliage is deeply cupped while more mature leaves are slightly domed. The petioles have a dark red coloration at the base. Medium lavender flowers with a center stripe bloom from late August into September on scapes which have a pinkish-purple color at the base. It produces viable seed in dark green pods.

The registration materials state: "Sturdy petioles display glaucous leaves that darken to deep forest green. Striking symmetrical form...becomes deep forest green by mid-season."

According to Joanna, "The cross produced a beautiful, round-leaf seedling on very stiff, upright petioles. The leaves are glaucous top and bottom, but as the glaucous coating fades from summer heat, the dark coloration of the leaves is revealed. By end-of-season the leaves are green-black... very attractive and eye-catching."
